Background:

Many public elementary schools within Mexico are underfunded. Science and Math classes are also usually taught through reading from a textbook. STEMito aims to augment education for low-resource public elementary schools through engaging and interactive activities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Project Details:

Led project planning and implementation with Angel Vela de la Garza. Recruited a team of 8 students in total with relevant background experience in STEM, education, and community engagement.

Created Project Proposal including budget, housing, travel, project description, detailed timeline, team description, and communication with school directors.

Implemented interactive STEM activities each day for a week in three elementary school classes (4th, 5th, and 6th grade). Designed STEM activities and workbooks for 55 students.
